Description

Urea, also known as nitrogen (N) fertilizer, has a nitrogen content of 46%. Urea is produced through a reaction process between ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2) in a chemical process to form solid urea in the form of prills (size 1 - 3.35 mm) or granules (size 2 - 4.75 mm). Prill urea is widely used for food crops and industrial segments, while granular urea is more suitable for the plantation and industrial segments.

Pupuk Kaltim’s urea for non-subsidized sector has white granules and is marketed under the brand name Daun Buah in 2 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg and 50 kg packages. In addition, non-subsidized urea is also marketed through Pupuk Indonesia’s Single Branding with the under the brand name Nitrea in 50 kg packages. Meanwhile, subsidized urea uses pink fertilizer granules, distributed under the Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company trademark in 50 kg packages.

Pupuk Kaltim has five Urea plants, namely Plant 1A, Plant 2, Plant 3, Plant 4, and Plant 5. Urea PrillS are produced by Plant 2 and Plant 3, while Urea Granules are produced by Plant 1A, Plant 4, and Plant 5. The total capacity reaches 3.43 million tons of Urea per year.
